7 Things I’d Fix Before Spending More on SEO

Before you buy more SEO, fix the foundations that make rankings and traffic actually useful.

7 Things I’d Fix Before Spending More on SEO

SEO spend works harder when the basics are solid. These are the seven areas I would review before increasing budget on campaigns, content volume or tools.

Seven foundations worth fixing first

  1. Technical performance

Slow pages and unstable Core Web Vitals frustrate users and make every other SEO effort work harder than it should. Fix hosting, images, scripts and obvious bottlenecks before buying more traffic.

  2. Search intent match

Ranking for a phrase is useless if the page answers a different question. Align titles, headings and content with what people actually want when they search.

  3. Page titles and meta

Clear, honest titles and descriptions help both searchers and search engines. Fix duplicates, vagueness and clickbait that does not match the page.

  4. Content quality

Thin pages that restate the obvious rarely deserve rankings. Improve depth, examples and usefulness — especially on pages that already attract impressions.

  5. Internal linking

Help people and crawlers move between related pages. Strong internal links distribute attention to your best work and clarify topical relationships.

  6. Conversion experience

Traffic without clarity wastes budget. Make next steps obvious: contact, enquiry, purchase, booking — whatever the page is for.

  7. Measurement and tracking

If you cannot see which pages convert, you cannot prioritise. Confirm analytics, key events and a simple reporting rhythm before scaling spend.

MY TAKE

I would rather improve seven fundamentals on a site that already exists than pour budget into a leaky funnel. SEO is a system, not a single lever.
